Bulb Creation from Finland

Because we are going to make I think at least 6 boats for now and more later i made plug for keel bulb out of birch and I'm going to make silicone mould for casting. Keel bulb should weight about one kilo.

There are few RS750 boats under construction in Finland (North Europe). Actually three boats for now but six books has been ordered here...We'll see.

None of us has made rc-boats before so let's see how are these going to work. We will hopefully post some pics about construction. Please don't mind if we'll post something in Finnish because our English is quite poor. It will not be anything important...

I haven't taken photos of the hull construction (we all have seen enough of those) but maybe we will get here something more interesting. I made my hull of 2mm balsa strips and sanded it properly. Advantage is that you will get really good (round) shape in hull easily.

Cause we are going to make I think at least 6 boats for now and more later i made plug for keel bulb out of birch and I'm going to make silicone mould for casting. Keel bulb should weight about one kilo.

In the future we will hopefully make these boats in my school club so that's why I will make silicone mould for keel bulb and also plug for hull. Yes, we will hopefully make hulls out of polystyrene by vacuum forming in the future. Old school building process is fun but takes too much time and effort (and we don't want kids to mess up with epoxy or glass fiber).

Winter is coming and it is getting darker here. After two months the sea here will freeze and it is so dark you wont see your fingertips. So, time is running out if we are gonna sail with these this year...

Mold is not ready yet but it'll be good...hopefully. I made also a jig to help making sails. Tried it and it worked good i guess. Jig is really easy to make and attaching sail panels is really easy. I should try to make whole sail before I tell you more lies of this magical jig...

I got instructions from here:

Not ready yet. It is missing a hole where you can pour lead in and maybe some air channels. At the top is the ready bulb. I haven't cleaned it up after casting... You can cast bulbs as many as you want with same silicone mold.
